Terms of use
Plain terms for a free, read-only tool.
What this is
Deal Desk is a pair of free tools, Deal Screener and Thinking of Selling, built and run by Kautilya and used through an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude. They do arithmetic on the figures you supply and return a structured read: a score, a range, a question list, a checklist.
Who built it. Kautilya is a buy-side advisor: it works for people buying businesses, and finds businesses for them. It does not act for sellers. The seller tools are built not to steer an owner towards selling, towards any route, or towards Kautilya.
It is not advice
Nothing the tools return is financial, investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, a valuation opinion, or an offer to buy or sell anything. It is a desk screen built only from what you typed in. Every output is only as good as the figures behind it, and those figures have not been checked against books, bank statements or tax returns. Make no decision to buy, sell, lend or price a business on this alone — take it to your own advisers and do real diligence.
Numbers
The tools state no number they cannot derive from your inputs or source to something real. They do not quote market multiples. Ranges are what the cash flow can finance under the assumptions shown on screen; a buyer may pay more or less for reasons the tools cannot see.
